It was a perfect weather day. Sunny, 24 degrees Celsius, 0 to 8 kts winds directly in the axis of the 24 runway. I did 1 hour of touch and goes with Michael Choquet, my new instructor before solo<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is the tradition for new solo pilots in Canada:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Traditional canadian first solo ritual\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4NQP0oiG3kE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the USA they cut the tail of the student scribbles some notes and frame it for posterity. Way back they use to cut the tie of the student. I kind of understand why it\u2019s no longer in to do so\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guillaume Turcotte, my former instructor, went back to Ottawa to pursue his flying career.
