With my medical in hand, and after an instructor change and a pre-solo test last week, I was able to do my first solo on Saturday, July 24th. It was a perfect weather day. Sunny, 24 degrees Celsius, 0 to 8 kts winds directly in the axis of the 24 runway. I did 1 hour of touch and goes with Michael Choquet, my new instructor before solo
Here is the tradition for new solo pilots in Canada:
In the USA they cut the tail of the student scribbles some notes and frame it for posterity. Way back they use to cut the tie of the student. I kind of understand why it’s no longer in to do so…
Guillaume Turcotte, my former instructor, went back to Ottawa to pursue his flying career. He is an outstanding instructor and I wish him the best.
